End AIDS. Invest in communities now!
Our goals
Aidsfonds works towards the end of AIDS in a world where all people affected by HIV/AIDS have access to prevention, treatment, care and support. We can only stop the epidemic if we focus on the people and regions most affected. For many years, Aidsfonds has played a pioneering role in focusing the AIDS response on those population groups who are affected the most by the epidemic due to stigma and discrimination. Our generation has the ability to stop one of the largest epidemics in history in its tracks. The time to accelerate, boost and focus the worldwide prevention, detection and treatment of HIV/AIDS is now.
16 Days of Activism | End violence against sex workers
Violence is one of the structural drivers that increases the risk of HIV infection among sex workers—one of our core target groups. If we tackle violence against sex workers, we can prevent up to 25% of new HIV infections. Aidsfonds stands strong against violence in all forms and supports partners and sex workers in increasing awareness, implementing advocacy campaigns and sharing knowledge. From 25 November to 10 December 2019, Aidsfonds raises attention by sharing life stories and achieved changes with its Hands Off programme - focused on the reduction of violence against sex workers. Raising awareness is the first and leading step in changing institutionalised violence against marginalised communities. Let's tackle this together! Communities first
We know that directly supporting communities that are at the highest risk of infection is the most effective approach in the response to HIV/AIDS. Aidsfonds has always played a pioneering role in focusing the HIV/AIDS response on those population groups who are affected the most by the epidemic due to stigma and discrimination. People in these communities know best what is needed to remove the barriers to prevention and treatment. We make a stand against injustice. We tackle hurdles that others cannot attempt to overcome. We put topics on the agenda that others will not discuss and we give support to people who others dare not support. We put communities first!

5 strategic goals
The focus on the most affected people and communities is the core of our work. Together we work towards 5 long-term goals to achieve a world without AIDS by 2030.
Highlights from our work
The HIV/AIDS response has reached a historic tipping point. We possess the knowledge to stop the global AIDS epidemic by 2030, yet new hotspots are still developing. Aidsfonds is convinced that the epidemic can only be stopped if the people and regions most affected by HIV are put at the centre of the AIDS response. Daring to do so will be of decisive importance. This is exactly the strength of Aidsfonds. We focus on those population groups most affected by AIDS due stigma and discrimination. To end AIDS we find bold solutions with and within local communities, we work on the basis of what has been proven effective in the AIDS response, we advocate worldwide to keep AIDS high on the political agenda and fund research towards the ultimate goal: a cure to HIV.

Knowledge & learning
We are experts and pioneers in the response to HIV/AIDS. We tirelessly seek new solutions and invest in pioneering scientific research. We mobilise politicians and Dutch society and develop state-of-the-art interventions. Aidsfonds aims to show that what we do works. We invest in promising innovative projects and methods and share what we have learned with a broader audience by publishing reports, manuals, factsheets on the work we do and the facts we discover. Through the development of useful data tools to share ‘big data’ on the HIV/AIDS response, we facilitate data-informed programming in combating the epidemic.
